Capt. Jack with a bonnet head shark.

Mar 25, 2025

Usually I say whiting are the first fish to show up in the sounds. This year bonnet heads sharks looks like the first to arrive. Water temperature is still a little chilly at 63 degrees. Often fishermen say water temperature for sharks needs to 70 degrees. Despite chilly water temperatures bonnet heads are in the sounds. Bonnet heads love eating shrimp and crab. The bonnet heads we caught today were all on shrimp. On medium light table these feisty sharks can put up a good fight.
